Individual Taxpayer Registry - CPF

The CPF (Individual Taxpayer Registry) is a database managed by the Brazilian Federal Revenue Office (RFB) and is an individual document required for enrollment at UFSCar (Federal University of São Carlos) and access to various public and private services in Brazil.

It is highly recommended that the CPF be issued before coming to Brazil.

Foreign students can obtain the CPF before coming to Brazil directly at the Brazilian diplomatic representations in their respective countries or by email according to the information below.

Issuance before coming to Brazil - At the Embassy or Consulate

It should be requested at the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate in your country of origin. We recommend that when applying for a visa at the Brazilian Embassy or Consulate in your country of origin, you also request the issuance of the CPF.

Issuance before coming to Brazil - Online

To request the CPF registration, first fill out the online form on the Federal Revenue Service website, at the following link:

https://servicos.receita.fazenda.gov.br/Servicos/CPF/cpfEstrangeiro/Fcpf.asp

Before filling out the form, make sure your browser's pop-up blocker is disabled. If you are a foreigner, leave the " Voter's ID card" field blank. After clicking SEND, you will receive a registration form containing the attendance e code.

Then, send an email to cpf.residente.exterior@rfb.gov.br with the following documents:

  • Individual Taxpayer Registry form (FCPF), containing the attendance code;
  • Identification documents proving name, date of birth, and nationality (e.g., passport, national identification document);
  • A selfie holding the open identification document close to your face, to confirm the identity of the applicant.
