BRAMEX

Brazil-Mexico Program (BRAMEX) promotes student exchange amongst institutions associated to National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES) of the Mexican Republic, from Mexico, and institutions associated to Coimbra Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB), from Brazil.

Application procedures

Form submission

The application form must be filled and signed by the student, academic coordinator and institutional coordinator (head of the International Relations office). It shall also be stamped with the home university’s seal.

Documents

  • Student nomination letter signed by the institutional coordinator (head of the International Relations office) at the home university;
  • A copy of the passport;
  • A copy of the academic records (certifying grades and courses) issued by the home institution.

The application form and documents must be sent to the International Relations Office (SRInter) of UFSCar by email to: mobility-srinter@ufscar.br or srinter@ufscar.br;

Review by the degree program coordination

All the applications for undergraduate degree programs are sent to the corresponding degree program coordinator at UFSCar for review of the study plan.
Classes are taught in Portuguese; proficiency is not required, but it is recommended that students have a basic knowledge of the language.

OBS: applicant students are not admitted for degree programs on Medicine and degree programs held on Lagoa do Sino campus.
A letter of acceptance will be issued after the study plan is reviewed. Once the admitted student receives such letter, he or she may request the appropriate visa in his or her home country. UFSCar requires student visa – Temporary IV.

Amendments to the study plan

After arriving at UFSCar, mobility students can request amendments to their respective study plan by filling the Study Plan Amendment form. The form shall be filled with assistance from the coordinator of the degree program that the student will attend at UFSCar and sent for the signing of the coordinator of the corresponding degree program at his or her home university. After the form is signed, it must be returned to SRInter;

Documents to be presented when arriving at UFSCar

  • Passport;
  • Original birth certificate or marriage certificate (a document containing parenting information, i.e., father’s and mother’s full name);
  • A copy of the international health insurance featuring coverage for medical and mortal remains repatriation. Such insurance must be issued before leaving the home country and cover the whole mobility period at UFSCar.
  • Three recent ID-sized photos, colored, in white background, not smiling, not wearing glasses, having most of the face appearing in the photo;
  • Student visa – Temporary IV;
  • Brazilian Natural Persons Register/Taxpayer ID Number (CPF) – access the link to Useful Information for information on how to obtain CPF;
  • Vaccination card accounting for yellow fever vaccine (São Paulo State is considered an endangered area);
  • National Migratory Register Card (CRNM) – access the link to Useful Information for information on how to obtain CRNM.

It is also recommended that students have the following vaccination:

  • 3 doses of hepatitis B vaccine (mandatory vaccination for students who will attend activities in Health Sciences);
  • At least one dose of anti-tetanus vaccine and Triple Viral vaccine, against mumps, measles and German measles.

Portuguese language proficiency

Classes are taught in Portuguese; proficiency is not required, but it is recommended that students have a basic knowledge of the language.

Observations

  1. If the student wants to develop academic activities like internship or a final paper, acceptance from a faculty member who is able to supervise him or her throughout the mobility period will be required.
  2. International mobility students will not be granted a UFSCar degree or diploma, unless they attend a double degree program.

Application deadlines

First semester (March-June): from September 30th to November 30th of the previous year.
Second semester (August-December): from April 15th to May 31st of the current year.

Housing

Mobility students within BRAMEX Program on São Carlos campus will be hosted in an apartment near the campus.
On the other campuses, students will be granted monthly an amount to bear housing expenses.
Housing and food will be offered during academic activities period only.

Food

Mobility students within BRAMEX Program on São Carlos campus may go to the university restaurant from Monday to Sunday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. On the other campuses, students may go to the university restaurant from Monday to Friday for lunch and dinner, and will also receive a grant to bear the expenses in the remaining days.
